Community Share Offer
YnNi Newydd is pleased to share an important update on our community share offer for the Bretton Hall Solar Farm.
Thanks to the strong support we have received from members of the public and from partner community energy organisations, we have now reached our minimum raise. This achievement has enabled Welsh Government Energy Service to approve a Local Energy Fund grant of £1.95 million to support the construction of Phase One of the solar farm. This funding confirms that Phase One is now fully financed and ready to proceed to construction.
Because of this success, we are extending the deadline for applications to allow more people to participate and to help us reach our stretch goal. The share offer will now remain open until 28 February unless the maximum subscription is reached earlier.
Reaching our stretch goal of £610,000 will allow YnNi Newydd to refinance the £180,000 loan element of the Local Energy Fund package. Refinancing the loan will increase long term community benefit and ensure that more of the returns flow directly to our members and our future community fund rather than external lenders.
This is a chance to become part of a significant community owned renewable energy project at a moment when the key construction funding is already confirmed. Every investment helps strengthen the foundations for the full 40 MWp build out, which is forecast to generate more than £100 million for a long term community fund once the entire project is completed.
